Newcomer Settlement Program (NSP)

The Newcomer Settlement Program (NSP) at African Community Services of Peel (ACSP) supports newcomers, asylum seekers, and refugees in their journey to integrate into Canadian society. The program provides access to essential resources and services, helping clients transition to self-reliance and financial independence while addressing their unique settlement challenges.

Through collaboration with community partners, funders, and local oganizations, the NSP connects newcomers to  housing, employment, education, and other critical resources. It offers culturally and linguistically appropriate services tailored to the diverse needs of clients.

Core Services:

  • Settlement Support: Client needs assessments, orientation sessions, and referrals to community resources.
  • Housing Assistance: Guidance and support in securing safe and affordable accommodations.
  • Employment Support: Job search strategies, resume building, and connections to local employers.
  • Workshops and Information Sessions: Covering topics such as health care, legal rights, transportation, financial literacy, and education.
  • Referrals to Community Resources: Linking clients to services for mental health, legal aid, and language training.

Key Features:

  • Culturally Relevant Services: Tailored to meet the unique needs of newcomers, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported.
  • Focused Support for Refugees and Asylum Seekers: Assistance with navigating legal and immigration processes, as well as trauma-informed care.
  • Collaborative Approach: Working closely with community partners to provide holistic, wraparound services.
  • Empowering Self-Reliance: Providing tools and resources to help newcomers achieve independence and thrive.
